Living Word Churches International (LWCI), Beitbridge wing held a successful and inspiring Couples’ Dinner which was designed to strengthen marriages through biblical teachings, fellowship and the renewal of marital commitment.
The programme was gracefully directed by the Master of Ceremonies, Elder Chishanga (Mrs), whose warmth and excellent coordination contributed to the success of the evening.
The programme opened with a teaching by Pastor Togara (Mrs) on the characteristics of a good wife. She taught that a good wife is a builder of her home, submits to her husband, ministers faithfully to her own husband, and continually does him good. She emphasized that a good wife is hardworking, prays for her husband and children, provides comfort to her husband, and, through her godly character, earns her husband’s love, trust and appreciation. Eph 5v22, Proverbs 14v1, 31vs 11—15
Pastor Divari (Mrs) ministered on the importance of maintaining healthy relationships with in-laws. She explained that many marriages experience challenges when relationships with relatives are not handled wisely.
She encouraged couples to protect and support one another when dealing with extended family members, avoid speaking negatively about their spouses to relatives, and refrain from overdependence on in-laws for financial support and advice. She also urged couples to continue showing love and support to siblings and relatives who were being assisted by their spouses before marriage. Gen 2 vs 24.
Pastor Divari (Mr) taught on the importance of effective communication in marriage. He encouraged couples to communicate openly about every aspect of their relationship, including marital and financial matters. He emphasized the need for couples to plan together, avoid making assumptions, and create an atmosphere where issues can be discussed freely, honestly, and respectfully. Esther 4 vs 5–17.
The programme concluded with a summary by Pastor Togara (Mr), who reinforced the key lessons shared throughout the evening. He urged couples to shun promiscuity and remain faithful to one another as they honour their marriage covenant before God. He then led the couples in renewing their wedding vows, creating a touching and refreshing moment as husbands and wives openly expressed their love and commitment to each other.
Throughout the evening, godly love songs were played, creating a peaceful and joyful atmosphere. Couples also enjoyed a delicious meal accompanied by refreshing drinks, providing an opportunity for fellowship and interaction.
The Couples’ Dinner was a spiritually uplifting and memorable occasion that strengthened marriages, promoted biblical family values, and encouraged couples to continue building homes founded on love, faithfulness, effective communication, mutual respect, and prayer. Glory be to God for the success of this wonderful event.
