The Panganais conveyed a blend of emotions—excitement, hope, and fear—as they anticipate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Such feelings are natural, especially with new appointments, which often bring a mix of anticipation and anxiety. Despite these emotions, the couple is eager to embrace this new chapter in their ministry.
During their visit to the office, Commissioner Vinece Chigariro (R) joined the conversation and offered words of encouragement and assurance.
Commissioner Chigariro reminded the Panganais that the Salvation Army does not send its officers where God cannot use them, reinforcing their sense of purpose and mission.
“Leadership has trusted you, don’t disappoint them,” she added, emphasising the confidence and faith placed in them by the organisation.
The Panganais are making history as the first Zimbabwean officers to serve in Madagascar.
This milestone comes in the context of the Salvation Army’s relatively recent establishment in the African island nation, which was officially inaugurated on October 23rd, 2016.
Madagascar, with a population of 28 million people, primarily speaks Malagasy and French, the latter being the common language for both private and public business.
English is not widely spoken, posing an additional challenge for the Panganais as they adapt to their new environment.
The move to Madagascar is a significant step for the Salvation Army and the Panganais, highlighting the ongoing commitment to expanding their mission and supporting communities worldwide.
As they prepare to serve in Madagascar, the Panganais carry with them the hopes and prayers of their colleagues and the broader Salvation Army community.
In their final days at Beitbridge Corps, the Panganais are focused on transitioning smoothly while reflecting on the impact they have made and the new paths they are set to forge.
Their dedication and willingness to step into this new role exemplify the spirit of service and faith that drives the Salvation Army’s mission globally.
