Christian Care together with Magnificent International Arts have empowered local youth through a detergent-making workshop and youth development meeting held in Masvingo.
The initiative drew young people from multiple churches under the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, including the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe, Methodist Church, Lutheran Church, and the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe (UCCZ). Organizers said the turnout reflected growing interdenominational unity in advancing youth empowerment programmes.
During the hands-on session, participants received practical training in producing liquid detergent, petroleum jelly (Vaseline), and disinfectant bleach (Domestos). The skills are intended to help youth meet household needs while creating opportunities for income generation.
The workshop emphasized self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and active youth involvement in community development.
Christian Care Masvingo Regional Chairperson, Mr. Tawanda Mudzimba, commended participants for their enthusiasm and urged them to apply the skills acquired.
“Our goal is to empower young people with practical skills that can transform their lives and enable them to contribute meaningfully to their communities,” said Mudzimba.
Magnificent International Arts (MIA) Regional Chairperson, Daisy Razidane, underscored the role of collaboration in expanding youth opportunities.
“Partnerships like these allow us to expand opportunities for young people, nurturing their talents and promoting economic empowerment,” Razidane said.
A key outcome of the meeting was the formation of the Masvingo Urban Christian Care Youth Committee, a new structure mandated to coordinate youth programmes at district level.
Newly elected Chairperson, Volyn Denga, pledged commitment to serving the youth and fostering church unity.
“We are dedicated to promoting unity among churches and ensuring that empowerment programmes reach more young people,” Denga said.
Vice Chairperson, Ilet Hove, stressed inclusivity as central to the committee’s mission.
“Our mission is to ensure that every young person is involved and empowered through skills training, mentorship, and spiritual development,” said Hove.
