Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) general secretary, Reverend Wilfred Dimingo has urged Zimbabweans to recall the main Easter message of love during the coming holidays as he reminds them of the love Jesus shared by dying for their sins.
In his heartfelt statement, on Palm Sunday, the Reverend recalls the main Easter message of love which Jesus showed by dying for our sins.
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Easter holidays and the Reverend’s heartfelt message mainly focused on love and peace which Christ gave to people.
Reverend Dimingo recited from the gospel, Saint John chapter 15 vs 13, as he said there is no greater love than a man sacrificing his own life for his friends.
“Our Lord Jesus summarizes the message of Easter when he said there is no greater love than this, that a man would lain down his life for the sake of his friend,” he said.
Reverend Dimingo has urged Zimbabweans, during the Easter time, to take a critical inventory of their lives in light of the message of the cross- love.
“We live in a time where we have forgotten, the greatest commandment, to love one another. We live in a time where we are no longer ashamed to see the gap between the rich and the poor growing bigger. We are no longer ashamed to see a few individuals living in abundance at the expense of the majority,” Reverend Dimingo said.
He further said,” we are living in a time where we call what is bad good and what is good bad.”
“We are living in a time, in our road to Jericho, we stop to give a handshake to robber, and a pat at the back, ignoring the wounded and the bleeding man lying by the roadside ,” the general secretary said.
Reverend Dimingo has encouraged all the people of faith to pray for peace in country and also “pray for our country.”
“It is when the power of love overcomes the love of power in our individual lives, in our country and in our families, when we the people of this nation, we will experience peace,” he said.
Zimbabwe council of churches is a fellowship of Christian churches and organizations that confess that the Lord Jesus as God and savior.
