The training covered various components of SRH, including Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Menstrual Hygiene Education, Family Planning, and Gender-Based Violence awareness.
The SRH champions comprise members from the interfaith group and community health workers, chosen to disseminate the acquired knowledge throughout their communities.
Their role is to amplify interfaith voices on SRH, aiming to positively influence SRH behaviour and promote improved access and utilisation of SRH services within their respective communities.
This initiative is part of the Enhancing Access to Basic Health Services and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights program, being implemented by ZCC in collaboration with partners such as the Poverty Reduction Forum Trust (PRFT) and the Community Working Group on Health.
The program, supported by Christian Aid, is operational in three districts: Mwenezi, Gwanda, and Bulilima.
The overarching goal of the program is to complement government efforts aimed at reducing teenage pregnancies, promoting the uptake and utilisation of Family Planning services, and eradicating all forms of Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
