THE Young People (YP) ministry at  Salvation Army Highfield temple citadel Harare division last Sunday auctioned some goods to raise funds for the church’s junior soldiers rally to be held in Domboshava from October 13 to 18.

One of the event  organisers, Nyasha Nyamayaro, said they were seeking to raise funds for disadvantaged children who could not afford to pay for the rally.

“We hosted this fundraising  in order to raise funds for the disadvantaged  children at this assembly  for them to be able to  attend rally which  is going to be hold on the 13th-18th of October in Chegugudza Primary School in Domboshawa,” he said.

The programme also featured the 58th wedding anniversary  celebration for Farai and Margaret Mapondera during which they renewed their vows.

The couple was married in 1965.

“I thank God for this day when we are remembering things that we  did 58 years ago. We are growing together in love with my wife, nothing will going to separate us until death,” said Farai.

Gogo Mapondera said  it was not easy to reach this far but it was God who directed them and he is still and she was excited because  their daughters and sons also followed their footprints.

“I want to give thanks to the Lord for taking us this far. The road wasn’t easy but we are still together. I also excited because  even our children also managed follow this path. Glory  be to God.”
