The Faith In God Ministries International (Victory Life Assembly) recently marked its fifth anniversary and simultaneously hosted their annual conference in Glen Norah A, Harare, in a joint celebration themed, “Flourishing through Sacrifice”.

The assembly, which was launched in 2018, has been exponentially growing, attracting a minimum of 100 believers during their Sunday services.

In his celebration message, resident pastor, Savison Machetu, pointed out that the assembly was sustained by God’s grace, good administration, hard work, commitment to the work of God and sacrifice.

This, he said, has seen the assembly registering several achievements which include a great harvest of souls and development among others.

“The Lord gave us partners who have the heart for the Kingdom. The assembly has survived through proper administration, grounding people in the word and consistency in prayer. For these five years, the assembly has achieved a lot including building a church structure, buying furniture, PA system in form of speakers, drum set, keyboard, guitars, microphones, generator and has grown to above 100 believers,” he said.

“This year’s theme meant that all these achievements were a result of sacrifices and the people behind such sacrifices have many testimonies. The main message is that for one to have a holistic flourishing, there is need to balance prayers with God’s principles together with sacrifices, taking a lesson from Abraham who sacrificed his own son and had never remained the same again. He took sacrifice as a way of worship. Worship goes hand in glove with altar sacrifice because an altar is a place where divinity meets humanity.”

The assembly has also been active in addressing social ills in the old suburbs through preaching love, drug and substance awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation and reintegration services for recovering addicts.

“There are many social ills in the contemporary society so, as an assembly, we teach unconditional love to say love does not hate, it is selfless. In terms of drug and substance abuse, we are guided by the pillars of prevention, demand reduction, supply reduction, rehabilitation and reintegration,” he said.

Meanwhile speaking after the convention, Pastor Machetu said that the annual footprints of the convention, which was meant to revive and empower believers with the word of God, registered success and witnessed a high turnout.

“The convention’s vision is for believers to gather annually in God’s presence, be empowered through the word of God and establish legacies for future generations through engraved and traceable footprints. Comparing it with our first convention last year, this year’s edition was unique due to the fact that it came at a time the assembly has achieved a lot of things in a short space of time,” he said.

The convention ran under the theme, “Life is not a Rehearsal, Think Generations, Impart Before you Depart”.
