The Salvation Army Harare City Corps marked a significant milestone on Saturday as it celebrated 132 years of unwavering service and commitment to the community. The occasion was graced by the Chief of Staff, Colonels Tineyi and Rumbidzai Mambo, who served as the guest of honor.
In a poignant ceremony, Colonel Tineyi Mambo planted a tree on the Corps’ premises, symbolizing the church’s strength, resilience, and continuity.
Major Liveson Mushayakarere, Corps Officer of Harare City Corps, explained the significance of the tree planting, highlighting its representation of:
“Strength and Resilience, Growth and Expansion, Life and Hope, and Legacy and Heritage.” He said
“Just as this tree will weather storms and seasons, our Corps has stood firm through trials and tribulations, touching countless lives and bringing hope, healing, and salvation to our community.”
The tree planting ceremony was a testament to The Salvation Army’s mission to bring light, life, and hope to all.
Colonel Mambo emphasized the importance of honoring the pioneers and predecessors who laid the foundation, celebrating achievements and milestones, and reaffirming commitment to serving Harare and beyond.
Majors Liveson and Vimbai Mushayakarere, Corps Officers of Harare City Corps, welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to the community for their support.
The event was attended by Salvation Army Harare City Corps members and Zimbabwe Territorial Youth Timbrelist and well-wishers
“This tree will stand as a living monument, reminding future generations of our Corps’ rich history, selfless service, and unwavering devotion,” said Colonel Mambo.
“May it flourish, just as our Corps continues to thrive, spreading roots of faith, hope, and love for generations to come.” He said.
As he was watering the tree he sang:
“Zvino ndinopinda munayo mvura
Ndinonzwa M’ponisi achindidana
Ndinosimbaradzwa ndichashambidzwa
Ndapinda mairi, yondishambidza.”
