Abandoned, orphaned, and facing an uncertain future, 36 children found a second chance at life at Omega Grace Villages, an orphanage organization in Bindura and support services provided such as child care and psychological support, which are essential for the healthy development of these young lives.
Led by Pastor Nobert Mubaiwa and Pastor Effie Nyambo, the administrator, the orphanage provides a safe haven for the children, offering essential services such as child care, psychological support, and social integration to help them thrive. By nurturing their physical, emotional, and social development, Omega Grace Villages seeks to provide a safe and loving environment where the children can grow and flourish, despite their difficult beginnings.
In an interview with Delight Marandure of ZimGospel Masters, Effie Nyambo emphasized her deep commitment to her role as an administrator of Omega Grace Villages, describing it as a God-given calling to care for orphans and widows
“Being an administrator of Omega Grace Villages is a challenging role, but through God’s grace, we are able to serve these children with love and dedication,” Effie Nyambo reflected.
“As a pastor, I believe that caring for orphans and widows is a calling from God, and I would be honored to have others join me in this work. There is much to be done, from assessing the needs of each child to writing reports and recruiting new children into our care. But when I see the smiles on their faces, I know that the effort is worth it”, she added.
For Effie Nyambo, her role as an administrator of Omega Grace Villages is more than just a job—it’s a calling from God to provide care and support to some of the most vulnerable members of society. With a deep sense of compassion and dedication, Nyambo strives to create a loving environment where each child feels valued and supported. Despite the challenges she faces in her work, Nyambo finds meaning in the smiles of the children, knowing that she is making a difference in their lives.
For Pastor Nobert Mubaiwa, the issue of child abuse is a heartbreaking but necessary reality to confront in his role as the founder of Omega Grace Villages. Through his work, he strives to provide a sanctuary for children suffering from sexual abuse, domestic violence, and even ritualistic abuse, recognizing that these acts of violence can be perpetuated by family members or justified by religion, and working to protect the children and provide counseling and healing to their families.
“Child abuse is a horrific reality that impacts so many of the children under our care,” Pastor Nobert Mubaiwa explained.
“From sexual abuse by relatives to domestic violence and even involvement in ritualistic practices, these children have endured unspeakable traumas. To protect the children and prevent further harm, we often house them within our facilities and offer counseling to both the children and their families. Unfortunately, religious ideologies can sometimes play a role in justifying these acts of violence against children, which only highlights the importance of our work in providing a safe and nurturing environment for these vulnerable young lives, “he said.
However, it is our mission at Omega Grace Villages to not only provide a safe haven for these children, but also to offer support and healing to their families, in the hope that we can break the cycle of abuse and create a brighter future for these young lives. We consider working with every church as long as we preserve our objectives.
Safe housing, childcare, and psychosocial support—the three pillars of Omega Grace Villages’ mission—provide a strong foundation for the children in their care. These objectives, which are supported by the organization’s registration and commitment to caring for children from infancy to young adulthood, including those with disabilities, offer a comprehensive approach to meeting the unique needs of each child.
