The World Council of Churches (WCC) has expressed solidarity with the Church and people of Zimbabwe, particularly families and communities affected by the tragic ferry disaster on Lake Kariba.
In a letter addressed to the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, WCC General Secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay conveyed prayers for those who are mourning , those awaiting news of loved ones, the survivors, and all involved in the rescue and recovery efforts.
The WCC also joins the call for an official inquiry, justice and accountability, and strengthened measures to protect lives and prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
