Good morning! The Lord spoke this morning with a powerful scripture, which we get from the book of Psalm 29:3-9. In these verses, we see that God still speaks.
“The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion [a] like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists the oaks[b] and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.

Let us first take a look at the historical context of these verses. In this passage, the psalmist is describing a powerful storm.
As the wind and waves crash against the ships and the trees, the psalmist is reminded of God’s power. In this storm, God is speaking to His people.
He is reminding them of His strength and that He is still in control.
Now let us look at some cross references to this scripture. We can turn to Job 37:5-6, where we read “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.”
God is speaking to us through His majesty and power. He is speaking to us through the storms of life, reminding us of His power and sovereignty.
We can also look to Isaiah 55:9-11. Here, we read “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.”
Here we see God speaking to us through nature. He speaks to us through the everyday events of life. He is reminding us that He is still in control.
Finally, let us look at some stories that illustrate this truth. We can look at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. In this passage, Elijah finds himself in a great storm on Mount Horeb.
God spoke to him in the wind, the earthquake, and the fire. But then God spoke in a still, small voice. This was a gentle reminder that God was still with Elijah, even in the midst of his storm.
God still speaks to us today. He speaks to us through nature, through His word, and through our circumstances.
He reminds us that He is still in control. Let us take heart in knowing that God will make all things clear in His time and His way.
Let us listen for His voice today and always.
