“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”
The words of the apostle Paul in Romans 7:15-25 echo the inner turmoil experienced by believers, torn between the desire for righteousness and the allure of sin. Paul’s vulnerability speaks to the shared struggle of humanity, reminding us that we are not alone in our battle.
Reflection:
The apostle Paul candidly expresses the inner conflict between his desire to do what is right and his struggle with sin. His words resonate with many believers who find themselves in similar battles. Yet, Paul doesn’t leave us without hope.
Romans 8:1-2 (NIV)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
But in Romans 8:1-2, a resounding declaration of freedom rings forth, breaking the chains of condemnation. Through Christ Jesus, we are liberated from the tyranny of sin and death, empowered to live in triumphant victory. This truth becomes our rallying cry, igniting the flames of hope within our hearts.

1 John 1:9 (NIV)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 offers the balm of restoration, inviting us to lay bare our sins before the throne of grace. Confession becomes our courageous act of surrender, opening the floodgates for God’s mercy and forgiveness to flow freely into our lives. In this sacred exchange, we find renewal and purification, washed clean by the precious blood of Christ.
Reflection:
Confession is key to overcoming sin. By acknowledging our wrongdoing and seeking forgiveness, we invite God’s cleansing and restoration into our lives. It’s essential to humbly come before Him, knowing that His grace is sufficient to cover all our sins.
