Zemura’s historic moment unfolded during Udinese’s Sunday clash against Cagliari, where he opened the scoring with a remarkable goal at Bluenergy Stadium.
Playing in a midfield role assigned by coach Gabriele Ciofi, the 24-year-old defender demonstrated his versatility and attacking prowess by securing Udinese’s sole goal in the one-all draw against Claudio Ranieri’s Cagliari. Zemura wasted no time, needing just 14 minutes to unleash a powerful shot into the top corner, making an indelible mark in Serie A history.
The former Bournemouth defender’s achievement extends beyond the goal, as he also made history as the first Zimbabwean player to secure a move to Serie A.
However, his joy was tempered by an early exit from the match, with Zemura making way for Republic of Ireland international Festy Ebosele in the 65th minute.
Despite Zemura’s historic goal, Cagliari responded 30 minutes later, with Gianluca Gaetano leveling the score for the visitors.
Udinese now finds themselves three points clear of the relegation zone, holding the 15th position with 23 points, on par with 14th-placed Frosinone.
Udinese’s upcoming challenge is set for Saturday at Luigi Feraris Stadium, where they will face Genoa in their quest to maintain their position in the Serie A standings.
