When the year started everyone was busy with his or her resolutions, focusing on are they going to run the year. But to Rev M.S Dube it was a different story as he was in thoughts of how he is going to run the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe as its presiding bishop in a ceremonial event held in December.

In December, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) marked a historic milestone with the official installation of Rev. Dr. MMS Dube as its Presiding Bishop.

The installation ceremony, attended by clergy, church leaders and congregants from across the country, ushered Rev. Dr. Dube into a five-year term of leadership. The event was celebrated as a moment of renewal and continuity within the church.

“As I embark on this new chapter as Presiding Bishop, I am filled with gratitude and a sense of responsibility. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe has entrusted me with a sacred duty, and I pledge to lead with integrity and compassion. We will focus on strengthening our spiritual mission, promoting unity and serving our communities with love. I invite all members to join me in this journey, working together towards a brighter future. With God’s guidance we will achieve great things.”

“The installation ceremony in December marked a new era for the ELCZ, one of renewal and continuity. I am committed to building on the foundations laid by my predecessors  and to leading the church towards greater heights. We will prioritize spiritual growth, social justice  and youth development, empowering our communities to thrive. I believe in the potential of our church, and I am excited to work alongside our clergy, leaders and congregants. Together, we will make a lasting impact, he said.

Church officials expressed confidence that Rev. Dr. Dube’s theological insight, pastoral experience and vision would help guide the ELCZ in strengthening its spiritual mission, unity and service to communities during his tenure.

Bishop Dr. Michael M.S. Dube is a prominent Zimbabwean church leader installed as the Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) for the 2026–2030 term with his installation ceremony held on December 14 2025 in Bulawayo.

He previously served as the Bishop of the ELCZ Western Diocese focusing on spiritual growth, social justice and youth development.

He has been actively involved in church administration, including commissioning pastoral installations and overseeing property developments like the Ngoma Congregation Parsonage.

He was recognized for promoting unity, community development  and supporting youth missionary work.

“As a church leader, I have always been driven by a passion for unity and community development. In this new role, I promise to continue promoting reconciliation, peace and social justice. We will strive to be a beacon of hope in Zimbabwe, serving the vulnerable and marginalized. I call upon all members to join me in this mission, working together to build a more just and compassionate society. With faith and perseverance, we will overcome challenges and achieve greatness.”
