Bindura – In a powerful message delivered during an all-night event organised by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) Bindura District Chapter, Rev Gwasira emphasized the dangers of pride in the Christian walk and its impact on effective ministry. He warned that pride can lead to a fall, citing numerous examples of individuals who have lost their way due to pride.
“Pride is a big problem affecting Christians,” Rev Gwasira said. “It has seen many fall from their calling and lose their way. You are talented, but if you develop pride, the talent shall disappear.”
Rev Gwasira encouraged the youth to use their talents for the glory of God, warning that pride can lead to mockery of the good things God has done. “God has many people ready to worship Him, and there are super subs out there ready to take your position. Don’t be proud; be humble, and be warned: God will mold and raise individuals who are better than you.”
He also addressed those who may try to boycott church meetings because of pride, saying, “You are shooting yourself in the foot. You may become a spent force, and history will record that you were once an expert, but now it’s history.”
Rev Gwasira emphasized that humility is essential for effective ministry, citing Jesus Christ as the ultimate example of humility. “He was humble even unto death. As youths, let’s follow Christ’s example and choose humility.”
The message was a timely reminder of the importance of humility in the Christian journey and its impact on effective ministry. Attendees were encouraged to examine their own hearts and motivations, ensuring that pride is not dictating their actions.
Let this be a warning to all Christians: pride is a subtle enemy that can creep in unnoticed. Let us heed Rev Gwasira’s message and choose humility, that we may grow in our faith and fulfill our calling.”
