Good morning brothers and sisters. As we gather here today in the house of the Lord, I want to remind us all of the power of prayer.
Jesus tells us in Luke 18:1-8, “And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, ‘In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man.
And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, “Give me justice against my adversary.”
For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, “Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.”’
And the Lord said, ‘Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily.’”
We can learn from this passage that when we are not okay, we should pray. When we are facing adversity, we should cry out to God for justice and he will answer us speedily. We can trust that God hears us and will answer us in His own way and in His own time.

Let me share three key ideas on why we should pray when we are not okay:
First, prayer is how we communicate with God. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Prayer is our opportunity to talk with God and share our hearts with Him. He is always willing to listen.
Second, prayer gives us peace and comfort.
The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
When we bring our worries and fears to God in prayer, He gives us peace and comfort that surpasses all understanding.
Finally, prayer helps us to remember that God is in control. The Bible tells us in Psalm 25:4-5 “Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.”
When we remember that God is in control and place our trust in Him, He will show us the way and lead us to salvation.
My friends, when you are not okay pray. Pray for guidance, pray for peace, and pray for salvation.
For it is through prayer that we are able to communicate with God and experience His grace and mercy. Let us never forget the power of prayer.
