The gesture was in line with the National Disability Policy Section 3.2 which prioritises economic empowerment and entrepreneurship opportunities for people with disabilities and Section 3.17 which promotes the support of women with disabilities for their self- reliance.
The donations comprised 50kg of plain flour, a premix for buns, baking tins, bowels, spoons and the Ngoda Oven.
Speaking upon receiving the donation, Albino Charity Organisation Founder and Executive Director Loveness Mainato welcomed the gesture by Ngoda Oven citing that it will go a long way in alleviating poverty in the community and afford women with albinism a great opportunity to fend for their families and able to buy their own skin care products.
“It is with great joy to express our gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer of Ngoda Oven Mr.Chikukuza for a life-transforming gesture they have shown.
“It means a lot to our organisation, members and the community at large. Women with albinism will be able to generate their own income through baking buns, bread and sell to the local community. This will enable them to buy sunscreen lotions, send their children to school and for the whole community food security will be achieved,” said Mainato.
Mainato further revealed that the start-up kit was a stepping stone for the beneficiaries which will help them to grow while encouraging them to embrace the project and work very hard.
“Our beneficiaries also received educational skills on how to bake using the oven. I want to encourage them to utilise this chance to do exploits,” she added
Meanwhile one of the beneficiaries said “I am very happy as a woman with albinism to have been remembered in such a way, with the skills we have received we will be able to do our own businesses. What I love about this gas Ngoda Oven is that it is easy to use, we can afford to buy the gas and also we will not be affected by load shedding,” she said.
