The Bible tells us in Philippians 2 vs 2, “Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” This is an incredible verse that speaks to the power of unity among us as believers.
So today we want to talk about how we can be unified in our faith and in our actions. We must be unified in our faith
The first way we can be unified as believers is in our faith. We are all united by our common faith in Jesus Christ.
As Hebrews 10:22-25 says, “Let us draw near to God with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”
It is so important that we stay unified in our faith and that we strive to encourage one another to stay on the path of righteousness. We can do this by spending time in prayer together and by studying the Word together.
When we are united in this way, it strengthens our faith and helps us stay focused on what is truly important. We must be unified in our loveIn addition to being unified in our faith, we must also be unified in our love.
Jesus said in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Unity is not just about agreeing on doctrine or theology, but it is also about loving one another. This means that we must strive to love one another as Jesus loved us.
We should be willing to forgive each other’s mistakes and to extend grace and mercy to one another. When we are unified in our love for one another, it creates a powerful bond that can’t be broken. We must be unified in our actions.
Finally, we must also be unified in our actions. We can’t just talk about unity, but we must actually live it out. We need to work together to do the work of the Lord and to serve others in need.
As James 2:14-17 says, “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?… Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” We need to put our faith into action by working together to serve others and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
