THE Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe Chairman, Dr. Constantine Murefu, was recently honoured with the Distinguished Christian Educator award at the Christian Ministry Training Institute (CMTI)’s fourth graduation and ninth ordination ceremony in recognition of his dedication to equipping generations for service in the body of Christ.
CMTI president Bishop Christopher Choto – who presented the award – described Dr. Murefu’s sterling efforts in Christian education as inspirational.
“This award symbolizes our deepest gratitude for your remarkable contributions. Your legacy inspires us to continue pursuing excellence in Christian education,” he said during the award presentation ceremony held on November 16.
“Your tireless efforts have shaped the minds and hearts of countless students, strengthened local churches and communities and advanced Christian education globally.”
Dr. Murefu, who was the first African principal of Living Waters Theological College, founded over 15 AFM assemblies during the time he headed the college for over two decades and has over the years established a strong reputation as a theologian, pastor and academician in Zimbabwe.
According to Bishop Choto, Dr. Murefu’s 46-year journey in education “has been marked by unwavering dedication, unrelenting passion, and unshakeable commitment to equipping generations for Christ’s service” and the award was a symbol of his contribution.
He said the immediate past deputy president of AFM International’s wisdom and love for God’s word had significantly impacted CMTI and the lives of many other people.
“May this recognition encourage and inspire future generations of Christian educators. Your legacy inspires us to continue pursuing excellence in Christian education,” he said.
Dr. Murefu has previously lectured at the University of Zimbabwe on a part-time basis, during which time he also served in the institution’s ecumenical chaplaincy. He is in charge of theological education within AFM International and is also a marriage officer and conference speaker.
