The One Way Apostolic Faith Church leader Word Mushonga ordained as bishop during an ordination event conducted by International Preachers Council of Churches (IPCC) founder Reverend Dr David Phiri in Chitikira Magunje Mashonaland West Province.
The process was significant, with 15 churches, included The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, ZAOGA, AFM in Zimbabwe, Place of Glory International Ministries, Johane Masowe Nyeredzi Nomwe and The Gospel of God Church 1932, commonly known as Johane Masowe yechishanu nguwo chena gathered to welcome the IPCC leader and congratulate Bishop Mushonga.
In his address, Rev Dr. Phiri spoke about the unity of mind and body, referencing the miracle of Jesus Christ feeding 5,000 people with five loaves and two fish.
He compared the five loaves to the five senses and the two fish to the two hands. He encouraged bishops and pastors to work hard and respect their families.
He quoted scripture, saying, “The saying is sure: If any one aspires to the office of bishop, he desires a noble task. Now a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, dignified, hospitable, an apt teacher, no drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, and no lover of money.”
“He must manage his own household well, keeping his children submissive and respectful in every way; for if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how can he care for God’s church?”, he said.
The event was successful despite Rev Dr. Phiri’s exhaustion from traveling over 1,000 km from Muzarabani where he donated second-hand clothes to orphans and widows under the Road In Jerusalem Apostolic Church, led by Archbishop Friday Chimoyo.
Rev Dr. Phiri was accompanied by several church leaders, including Bishop Nyanoka (Treasurer General), Apostle Season (National Public Relations Officer), Bishop Nyathi (National Secretary for Women Affairs), Overseer Mukombero (Driver), and Pastor Emmanuel (Protocol).
At the end of the ordination ceremony, Bishop Mushonga was promoted to be the IPCC Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinator.
” It is an honour to be recognized in the body of christ, being a leader isn’t easy as lot of people may think of. The organization came in the right time and even here in rural areas. I am thankful to the leadership for these initiatives,” said bishop Mushonga.
Bishop Word Mushonga was called in 2004 and received a vision from Jesus Christ in 2008, confirmed by various servants of God.He grew up in Hurungwe, herding his father’s cattle. One of his elder sisters introduced him to churches, and he became the most devoted believer in the church.
