Speaking during a Sunday service, Apostle Dr. Joe Daniels, the founder of Gateway church said everyone has a past and the devil can capitalize on using your past to destroy your future. Past is very dangerous, it may stop one from getting married, getting a job and having happiness.
“Satan most of the times has a tendency of using your past against you. They are people with your past files who want your present to fail. The past may stop what is likely to happen in the future or present,” said Apostle Daniel.
He urged people to not look backwards when they decide to move forward. He quoted Philippians 3: 13 “but this one thing l do, forgetting those things which are behind…” therefore, forget the past and move forward because God wants to use that past to become a message.
“Sometimes when you decide to move forward, do not look backwards because the past can be very dangerous. There are certain experiences in the past. A mess that you have gone through but God wants to use that mess to become a message in the present.
“Satan wants you to remember your past and this past does not bring any present benefit,” he said
Meanwhile he said, do not let the devil use your past against you. What matters is what you have become not what you were but in the process we must deal with our past. Your past cannot be an excuse to be what God wants you to become. You might enjoy your future as much as you might seem like you do not have a past.
