The legend launched a 12-track Amapiano Hymn Praise album on the 22nd of June 2024 at a colourful occasion which took place at Anglican Cathedral in Harare.
Speaking about his return into the game, Mahendere expressed that his approach this time would aim to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ but mainly targeting the young people.
“The voice that you used to enjoy some years ago Is back with a punch. I discovered that our youths need to enjoy, that is why they are always listening to amapiano circular music, hence, I have devised a strategy of putting himself on hard core Amapiano so that they can enjoy whilst listening to a positive message that can guide them, teach them and shape them to be of good characters.
“So before this album, I already released an anti-drug abuse song which educates the young people about the dangers of drugs and encouraging them to stay away from drugs,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking during the launch of the album, Former Minister of Information and Publicity, Honourable Webster Shamu commended Mahendere’s music saying that it has been instrumental in building communities, promoting the Zimbabwean culture, preaching peace and unity among others.
“I am very happy to be here today officially launching Mahendere’s album. We have known each other for a very long time and we have together composed many songs which I believe that we will be working and reading them in due course.
“Music is cathartic, it heals emotionally, and it plays a very crucial role for social change and in every aspect of life. Mahendere’s music uplifts spiritually, preserves the identity of our nation, promotes unity and peace in societies. He has done a great job, his music is unique because it has never been done before across the globe,” said Shamu.
