Pastor Grace Kapswara headlines high tea

Recap – LOCAL hotel was turned into hive of activity as wives from different backgrounds converged for a much-anticipated high tea the wives did not disappoint as they lived up to the billing of the classy event, exhibiting the glow that comes with being a wife.

It was a congregation of Christian wives from different denominations seeking to be re-energised into embracing their true identity in Christ.

Organised by Marriage Should Be Awesome founder and ZimGospel Masters columnist, Pastor Shanaaz Suberi, the event was headlined by guest speakers Pastor Grace Kapswara and Tsungai Gwagwadze as well as brand strategist, Samm Torindoh.

The theme of the high tea, “Blossom Where You Are Planted,” was derived from Matthew 5:13-16.

The event was complete with the pomp and fanfare associated with wives having a good time away from the hustle and bustle that comes with running a household as a mother and wife.

The ambiance was palpable as the struggle proved to be real when Pastor Suberi took to the podium to unpack the complexities of marriage struggles.

The day’s teachings revolved around the role of a wife to the extended family, the realness of marital conflict, creating special moments with your family on your husband’s side of the family, the principle of submission and dealing with toxic relations.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Pastor Suberi said the event was memorable considering the fact that the Marriage Should Be Awesome grew from a WhatsApp group chat.

The event was the first of its kind as most of the women barely knew one another in the physical as all their meetings before the high tea had been conducted virtually.

“We believe that each person has been planted by God, but we are saying no matter what happens in our marriages, we need to blossom.”

The Bible says in Proverbs 18:22, a man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord, so when he obtains favour from the Lord as a wife you will need to blossom and you will need to stand your ground,” she said.

“In as much as there might be hurdles, you need to tell yourself that we are going to make it and that you are the good thing in that family. The vision is to reach as many women as possible and remind them that they are still a good thing. I know that most of us grew up in a culture where we were told that marriage is hard work and that you lose yourself, but I believe that if a man finds a wife he has found a good thing and that good thing is a blessing which is going to in turn pour more blessings in his life and in the life of his family.”

After the lunch break which was a high-class affair, there was a powerful ministration led by Pastor Kapswara.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Pastor Kapswara described the event as “glorious” after seeing “women from all walks of life coming alive”.

“After today’s ministration, there will definitely be restoration, mending and confi dence in these women. The gaps of inferiority complexes are going to be filled. To those women who couldn’t be a part of this event, all I can say is that wherever you are you need to be conscious about yourself first even though you are a wife remember you are an individual,” she said.

Pastor Kapswara said for one to be a good wife to their husband and a good mother to their children, they should learn how to build themselves up first.

“Make sure your mind is positive and, against all odds, show up. We all go through pain, we all go through situations but if you are kind to yourself first, you will be a good wife. To that wife whose husband does not avail himself to the children for any reason, first, I say you must forgive because it hurts. We do not want to overlook the fact that it is painful but there is need for you to communicate clearly the pain you are feeling to your husband,” she said.

She reiterated the need to communicate clearly in marriages so that there will be no room for confusion.

The event ended on a high note with the guest speaker for the day anointing Pastor Suberi and the wives receiving gift packages for their participation in the first ever Marriage Should Be Awesome high tea.

“After today’s ministration, there will definitely be restoration, mending and confidence in these women. The gaps of inferiority complexes are going to be filled. To those women who couldn’t be a part of this event, all I can say is that wherever you are you need to be conscious about yourself first even though you are a wife remember you are an individual.”
