“My love for music started when I was very young. I enjoyed listening to cassettes from local and regional gospel artists,” Munashe said. He began playing the trumpet at 9 years old and was involved in music groups in primary school and church. Munashe attended Glen View 2 Primary School and later Christ Ministries High School, where his passion for music continued to grow.
Munashe credits Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s teachings for shaping his faith and music. “Through his teachings, I was transformed and I’ve come to understand who I am in Christ, what it means to be a Christian Believer and how God uses us, Believers, as instruments to impact and transform the world.”
Despite facing challenges like creating an audience and acceptance, Munashe persevered, driven by his faith and supportive friends and family. “My faith in God has helped me immensely during difficult times. His light guides us through dark periods, and His power transforms and restores.”
Munashe’s songwriting is inspired by the Holy Spirit, prayer, and studying the Word of God. “My biggest inspiration in writing music is the Holy Spirit. He is the fuel that propels my gift in artistic creativity.”
A memorable experience was when his song “To Trust (Capable Hands)” topped the ZiFM Gospel Charts for six weeks, touching many lives. “The feedback I got from the people; how the song was touching their lives and how it was speaking into their lives, showed me the great impact that the song was having in the lives of people, which was very heart-warming for me.”
Munashe balances the artistic and spiritual aspects of his music by allowing his spirituality to influence his creativity. “I believe what helps me to create a balance is the fact that there is no separation between my music and my spirituality.”
