President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed veteran banker Dr John Mushayavanhu as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) beginning from 1st of May taking over from Dr John Mangudya following the expiring of his 10 year tenure on the 30th of April.
“All these were done with deference of the Section 15 (3) of the RBZ Act (Chapter 22:15),” said Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, during announcements of the changes at the Reserve Bank and Mutapa Investment Fund.
Dr Mushayavanhu is a career banker with over 30 years banking experience, having worked at Standard Chartered Bank and FBC Bank in senior capacities.
He holds several educational qualifications, including a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a PhD in Business Administration.
Dr Rushwaya also announced the appointment of outgoing governor Dr John Mangudya as chief executive officer of the Mutapa Investment Fund formerly known as Sovereign Wealth Fund of Zimbabwe.
“His Excellency the President Mnangagwa has in terms of Section 8 (b) (1) of the Sovereign Wealth Fund Act (Chapter 22:20) appointed Dr John Panonetsa Mangudya to the post of chief executive officer of the Mutapa Investment Fund, he said.
