The fast-rising music ministry, Glorious Voice of Victory Choir, originated from Domboshava during the Covid-19 era and was born out of the desperate need for worship and connection when the world was gripped by fear and the loss of many lives, Rodrick Chakauya, one of the executives, told Zimgospel Masters.
Mr Chakauya who is the choir’s treasurer, shared the inspiration behind their formation.
“We saw God in 2021, it was time of Covid-19; that’s when we really looked for God, due to loss of lives we witnessed each and every day.”
The lockdowns created an opportunity for individuals to come together, relax and focus on worshipping while praying for mercy during a time of crisis.
“Since it was time of asking mercy to the Almighty, it started when people were in a desperate situation; it began on a high note.”
The group had only a few talented members but lacked the necessary equipment. However, as they gained momentum, they began to enroll new members including females and their presence grew stronger.
The choir has already produced several singles and is eagerly anticipating a live DVD recording in the coming months. Despite operating without sponsors they have successfully promoted themselves, recently performing at a major event hosted by Prophet Kuda Jose at Glamis Arena in Harare.
“We do not have sponsors or managers as of yet, but we are cooperating and taking responsibility to spread our name far and wide,” Chakauya explained. “I am happy that last month we managed to perform at a biggest event which was held at Glamis Arena.”
Mungate Nyamaropa another member of the choir emphasized their energy and potential.
“It is still small, but it is promising something big in the near future; their music is so powerful and inspiring. I see a better future.”
