GOSPEL musician Benny ‘Hadassah’ Muzanamombe last month decried how some preachers were now focusing on personal gain instead of preaching the true gospel.
Speaking at the launch of his fifth album at a colourful event graced by his fans, government officials, corporate representatives and gospel musicians including Dorcas Moyo and Pastor Charles Charamba, the Vafudzi Vemakwai hit maker said the key message on the album was for people to remain rooted in the message of Christ.
Speaking to ZimGospel Masters on the sidelines of the launch of the sixtrack offering, Hadassah said it was important to ensure that people were not diverted from the true message of the gospel.
“The message on this album is that lately, Christendom has been invaded by messages that are diverting people to focus on personal gain,” he said.
“We are inspired by the unchangeable word of God to revive the dead parts of the gospel so the main message to everyone is, do not exit the safety of Jesus Christ for any glittering deceit’. Remain rooted in Christ and work hard to keep your focus on salvation.”
Hadassah said the album was unique as he was inspired by the word of God and their prayer was for people not to harden their hearts when they received the gospel.
Meanwhile, Hadassah described the album’s reception as exceptional. “The launch was a success and the turnout was pleasing since we managed to get representatives from all corners of the world,” he said, adding that the album was a source of inspiration and a unique project.
Officiating at the launch, the director in the Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation ministry, Dr. Biggie Samwanda applauded gospel musicians for complementing government’s efforts to promote unity and peace. He said music played a crucial role in fighting drug abuse and gender-based violence while urging musicians to embrace and adapt to the recently launched music strategy.
“Music is an embodiment of social cohesion. It is also a therapy as it is an important core in the social structure and moral fibre of the nation. We wish you all to familiarise yourself with the music strategy that was launched in June last year,” he said.
“Let us all come on board to support our music industry as it also helps us to keep the youths away from drug and substance abuse. The government wants to applaud the church for promoting honesty and straightforward living as indicated by this gathering through music.”
The Muparidzi Mutema album consists of six tracks: Chii Chakazoitika, Dzinde Rerugare, Hameno Zvadzingori So, Makamira Muropa, Mhandara dzaMwari and Musatsvedzemuka. Muzanamombe was also branded the ambassador of a local security company.
